The Vatican press office made a report on the latest details of Pope Francis’ health.
The statement explains that he had a restful night and woke up shortly after 8:00 a.m. (07:00 GMT). A new official medical report is expected around 19:00 (18:00 GMT), which will allow more details on his progress.

The pontiff was admitted to Rome’s Gemelli hospital on Feb. 14 due to bronchitis with polymicrobial infection, which later evolved into bilateral pneumonia.
This Monday, March 3, he suffered two severe episodes of respiratory failure, caused by a significant accumulation of mucus in the bronchial tubes, which caused respiratory spasms. To relieve his condition, he underwent two bronchoscopies to remove the accumulated secretions. Throughout his hospitalization, he has faced other respiratory challenges, including an asthma flare-up and bronchospasm, which also caused him discomfort.
On Tuesday, March 4, it was confirmed that the Pope has not had new episodes of respiratory failure or bronchospasms. He has resumed the use of non-invasive mechanical ventilation at night, while during the day he uses nasal cannulas to receive high flows of oxygen. A positive aspect is that he has not had a fever and remains conscious, actively collaborating with the treatments that have been indicated.

Throughout his stay in the hospital, the medical team has issued several statements to keep the faithful informed about his condition. In the first few days, it was reported that he responded well to treatment and that his condition was improving. However, it was recommended that he stay at rest and avoid any activity that could compromise his health.
The Pope has continued with his routine of prayer and reflection. Doctors have stated that his mood is positive and that he is eager to return to his duties.
The Catholic community and the entire world continue to send their best wishes and prayers for the speedy recovery of Pope Francis, who continues to be a symbol of hope and faith for millions of people.
