Cuban-American singer and songwriter Jose Lorenzo El Piscis has once again broken the mold with the release of “Tú sí comparitas,” a single that fuses Afrobeat and salsa and is the fourth from his album “Pa’ los salseros y las salseras.”
“Now I present to you an Afrobeat rhythm, with a mix of Cuban pilón, Santiago de Cuba conga vibes, elements of hip-hop and New York salsa. It is a very energetic song, where we mix the rhythms of today with those of before, and it is totally designed for the dancer,” said Jose Lorenzo El Piscis.
The song has arrangements by Yandro Reinoso Macías and El Piscis. The video clip was directed by Reinier Charón. The group of Colombian dancers who always accompany Jose Lorenzo’s audiovisual productions participated in the recording.
“Afrobeat comes from Nigeria, and we Cubans have a lot of influence from their religions and their culture in general,” added El Piscis.
In this single, the musician appeals to a current urban language, more street-wise and provocative than his previous releases.
Piscis is a musician whose voice allows him to explore any musical genre, from salsa to urban music. For this reason, the album “Pa’ los salseros y las salseras” includes genres such as merengue, vallenato, salsa, cumbia and afrobeat.
“You do share” is now available on digital platforms.
Previously, El Piscis had a great reception in countries such as Mexico, Colombia, Spain and the United States with “Ábreme la puerta”, “Besos no” and “Eres como el vino”.
Born in Guantánamo, Cuba, in 1977 under the water sign of Pisces, José Lorenzo emigrated to the United States at the age of 16. He graduated in Fine Arts from the University of Virginia. At the age of 21, he founded the band Timbasón La Original, a fusion of timba, funk, rumba and son, with the style originating from the eastern region of Cuba.
