FLUX, UWC and Equality California Lock Arms to Support the LGBTQ+ Victory Fund’s Public Leadership Summit

LOS ANGELES-The Connie Norman Transgender Empowerment Center (CONOTEC), a facility providing comprehensive resources, training, support, and services for Transgender people living in Los Angeles, will host The LGBTQ+ Victory Fund’s Public Leadership Summit on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at the CONOTEC facility in Los Angeles.

FLUX, a national division of AIDS Healthcare Foundation dedicated to creating safe spaces for trans and gender non-conforming individuals; the Unique Women’s Coalition (UWC); and Equality California (EQCA) are locking arms in support of the LGBTQ+ Victory Fund’s summit.

WHAT: LGBTQ+ Victory Fund Public Leadership Summit

WHEN: Saturday, September 21, 2024, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

WHERE: Connie Norman Transgender Empowerment Center, 1001 N. Martel St., Los Angeles, CA 90046

WHO: LGBTQ+ elected officials speaking will be:

  • Hon. Lisa Middleton, Councilmember of Palm Springs, CA
  • Hon. Thomas Wong, Mayor of Monterey Park, CA
  • Hon. Rick Chavez Zbur, California State Representative (D-51st District)
  • Hon. Jeff Prang, Assessor of Los Angeles County

Attendees participate in collaborative workshops and discussions on how to run for office or enter public service as out LGBTQ+ individuals. The program convenes LGBTQ+ leaders and elected officials who are fighting to advance equality in the region. With the support of local LGBTQ+ Elected Officials and organizational partners, the Summit is a first step for LGBTQ+ people who may want to run for office or help other LGBTQ+ people become political leaders.

The program is from 1-4pm and is followed by a reception for program participants, organizational partners, and LGBTQ+ Elected Officials to build community after the formal programming ends.

There will also be significant amount of LGBTQ+ elected officials in the room and several that are joining just for the reception at the end of the program.
