Colombian singer-songwriter JUANDY presents his new song ‘DE CALI VE’ , a song that celebrates the essence of his hometown, Cali, and its unstoppable energy, which will be remembered as an institutional anthem for the Cali Fair and all the spaces that commemorate this emblematic city of the Valle del Cauca.
The song was written in collaboration between JUANDY , renowned dancer and content creator VALERIA SANDOVAL and Medellín artist BOMBY , during a shared inspiration in a hotel room in Cartagena.
‘DE CALI VE’ seeks to pay tribute to the vibrant life of Cali, its traditions, its people and its spaces. Recorded by renowned producer German Duque, known in the industry as ‘Mango’, who is nominated multiple times for this year’s Grammy Awards, the song features arrangements by Grammy nominee Néstor Vanegas. Together they have managed to give the song an impeccable production quality that highlights both the modernity and the classic touches of salsa, fusing the contemporary with the traditional in a unique way.
“I’m very excited to be part of this theme because music has been a great excuse to put the cities of Colombia on the world map. How nice it is to be part of that, I hope you play it at full volume and dance to it in your own way, not necessarily as experts, but simply feeling it and moving to the rhythm. That’s why we made it,” said Valeria Sandoval.
The video for ‘DE CALI VE’ becomes a true love letter to the city, seeking to portray the best of Cali for those who do not know the city or are far away. The production of the video was a collective construction between friends, dancers, acrobats, athletes and actors, reflecting the joy and art that vibrates in the streets of Cali. It is a visual tribute to the warmth, culture and music that make this city a unique place.
With ‘DE CALI VE’ , JUANDY continues to demonstrate the versatility that characterizes him as a musician, managing to unite salsa with modern and contemporary elements, maintaining his own authentic style. His proposal seeks to connect with people of all ages, and especially, to put salsa back in the center of the musical scene, bringing the rhythm of Cali to all corners of the world.
